Charlotte & Dom's Autumn Upwaltham Barns Wedding

On an idyllic sunny September day, Charlotte and Dom married at the stunning venue of Upwaltham Barns, a gorgeous English country venue set against the rolling hill backdrop of the South Downs National Park in West Sussex. No stranger to these lovingly restored family-owned barns, bride Charlotte, who works for their in-house catering team Nibbles2Nosh, called upon well-loved local suppliers to assist her in creating the ultimate wedding day! Having personally helped hundreds of brides and grooms with the running of their weddings, Charlotte’s knowledge and experience of the industry ensured that all the the ‘i’s were dotted and the ‘t’s crossed on this glorious big day of her own. The barns were full of charming rustic decorative details and the atmosphere perfectly laid-back as this couple enjoyed undertaking the formalities whilst choosing to take a more relaxed approach to some of the other wedding traditions.

Stunning flowers, delightful decor, tantalising food and lively entertainment were all exceptional elements, giving me plenty of picture-perfect moments to photograph. It was a joy to capture happy scenes of the bride, groom and their guests enjoying the easy-going ambience in such a beautiful setting and I was honoured to be a part of this special day.

Katherine & Dave's Southend Barns October Wedding

Katherine and Dave married in mid October - a lovely season to capture photographically as the vibrant summer colours start melting into warmer, softer tones.

The inviting autumnal setting was a fitting detail as the couple I was photographing had inclusive warm personalities ensuring all the guests and I felt very welcomed and at ease. Somehow there was a softness about the couple which allowed for a lovely calm and friendly atmosphere that day. What stood out to me the most was that this wedding was one of great taste, balance and organisation and it was clear a sense of structure had been created through all the little personal details that the couple had so carefully put into place. The couple had even chosen a Master of Ceremonies, who was a close friend of Katherine’s, to help the proceedings flow, which was a great touch.

Dave and his groomsmen were at Crouchers Hotel that morning, a popular country hotel local to the Sussex wedding venue of choice; Southend Barns. When I arrived I found the boys dressed smartly in blue suits and tan brogues - both which are definitely style choices of the moment, and they were certainly wearing them well! Here is Dave and his brothers in the bar area in their on-trend attire. For an eye-catching composition I set them in a pose that offered some symmetry which is pleasing to the eye and complimentary to their overall smart and well considered styling.

Holly & Adam's Southend Barns Autumn Wedding

October 9th, a surprisingly sunny day with only a hint of anything remotely autumnal, was the date Adam and Holly decided to 'tie the knot' last year. When I first met the couple, they soon confessed that neither of them were particularly confident in front of a camera. With an October wedding you can never be sure what the weather might throw at you, so we decided to head to the beach in the middle of summer for their engagement shoot to make sure they had at least one sunny shot in their collection! We chose sunset for its warmth and romance and it proved a lovely setting firstly for the two of them to practice 'relaxing' in front of the lens, and also for me to get to know this young, trendy couple with good style and good humour. It made me really look forward to seeing how their wedding day would transpire.

The boys were in high spirits when I met them at a hotel in Chichester before the formalities began. Adam had two best men and another good friend who acted as Master of Ceremonies throughout, bringing a bit of personal humour to tie the day together. I had scouted out an industrial estate near the hotel which we took a stroll to, as the couple had wanted the groomsmen shots to have an edgier, more masculine vibe. The colour scheme for the day was a charming pale pink, accented with soft cream and gypsophilia. The groomsmen reflected this not only in their ties and shirts but with a bit of sneaky sock action too! Here they are chilling against the warehouse door and then cutting some serious shapes and showing off those excellent pink socks.
